Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 16.04 ESM / 18.04 ESM / 20.04 LTS / 22.04 LTS host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the USN-6374-1 advisory.

 - Null pointer dereference when viewing a specially crafted email in Mutt >1.5.2 <2.2.12 (CVE-2023-4874)

 - Null pointer dereference when composing from a specially crafted draft message in Mutt >1.5.2 <2.2.12 (CVE-2023-4875)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected mutt and / or mutt-patched packages.
