Synopsis

A web browser installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Firefox ESR installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is prior to 102.15.1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the mfsa2023-40 advisory.

 - Opening a malicious WebP image could lead to a heap buffer overflow in the content process. We are aware of this issue being exploited in other products in the wild. (CVE-2023-4863)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mozilla Firefox ESR version 102.15.1 or later.
