Synopsis
The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.Description
The version of compat-libtiff3 installed on the remote host is prior to 3.9.4-12. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2023-2235 advisory.- LibTIFF 4.4.0 has an out-of-bounds write in tiffcrop in tools/tiffcrop.c:3724, allowing attackers to cause a denial-of-service via a crafted tiff file. For users that compile libtiff from sources, the fix is available with commit 33aee127. (CVE-2023-0802)
Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
Solution
Run 'yum update compat-libtiff3' to update your system.See Also
