Synopsis

The remote Oracle Linux host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Oracle Linux 5 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ELSA-2011-1073 advisory.

- bash-doc 3.2 allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files via a symlink attack on a /tmp/cb#####.? temporary file, related to the (1) aliasconv.sh, (2) aliasconv.bash, and (3) cshtobash scripts.
(CVE-2008-5374)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected bash package.
