high Nessus Plugin ID 178503

Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux AMI host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of busybox installed on the remote host is prior to 1.34.1-1.15. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS-2023-1786 advisory.

- A use-after-free in Busybox 1.35-x's awk applet leads to denial of service and possibly code execution when processing a crafted awk pattern in the copyvar function. (CVE-2022-30065)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update busybox' to update your system.
