Synopsis

A virtualization management application installed on the remote host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of vCenter Server installed on the remote host is 7.0 prior to 7.0 U3m or 8.0 prior to 8.0 U1b. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities, as follows:

- A heap overflow vulnerability due to the usage of uninitialized memory in the implementation of the DCERPC protocol.
(CVE-2023-20892)

- A use-after-free vulnerability in the implementation of the DCERPC protocol. (CVE-2023-20893)

- An out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the implementation of the DCERPC protocol. (CVE-2023-20894)

- A memory corruption vulnerability in the implementation of the DCERPC protocol. (CVE-2023-20895)

- An out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the implementation of the DCERPC protocol. (CVE-2023-20896)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to vCenter Server 7.0 U3m, 8.0 U1b or later.
