The remote Debian host is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The remote Debian 11 / 12 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the dsa-5440 advisory.

- Type Confusion in V8 in Google Chrome prior to 114.0.5735.198 allowed a remote attacker to potentially exploit heap corruption via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High) (CVE-2023-3420)

- Use after free in Media in Google Chrome prior to 114.0.5735.198 allowed a remote attacker to potentially exploit heap corruption via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High) (CVE-2023-3421)

- Use after free in Guest View in Google Chrome prior to 114.0.5735.198 allowed an attacker who convinced a user to install a malicious extension to potentially exploit heap corruption via a crafted HTML page.

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the chromium packages.

For the stable distribution (bookworm), these problems have been fixed in version 114.0.5735.198-1~deb12u1.
