Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 11 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dsa-5414 advisory.

- Systems that run distribution built after a specific commit running on memory-restricted environments can suffer from denial of service by a crafted malicious /v2/_catalog API endpoint request. (CVE-2023-2253)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the docker-registry packages.

For the stable distribution (bullseye), this problem has been fixed in version 2.7.1+ds2-7+deb11u1.
