Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing one or more security updates for bind.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 9 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the RHSA-2023:2261 advisory.

- bind: processing large delegations may severely degrade resolver performance (CVE-2022-2795)

- bind: flooding with UPDATE requests may lead to DoS (CVE-2022-3094)

- bind: sending specific queries to the resolver may cause a DoS (CVE-2022-3736, CVE-2022-3924)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL bind package based on the guidance in RHSA-2023:2261.
