Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux AMI host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of exim installed on the remote host is prior to 4.92-1.36. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS-2023-1722 advisory.

- The STARTTLS feature in Exim through 4.94.2 allows response injection (buffering) during MTA SMTP sending.
(CVE-2021-38371)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update exim' to update your system.
