Synopsis

The remote Fedora host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote Fedora 36 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the FEDORA-2023-80b2470d3c advisory.

 - netconsd prior to v0.2 was vulnerable to an integer overflow in its parse_packet function. A malicious individual could leverage this overflow to create heap memory corruption with attacker controlled data.
 (CVE-2023-28753)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected netconsd package.
