Synopsis

The remote CBL Mariner host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The version of busybox installed on the remote CBL Mariner 2.0 host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the CVE-2021-42376 advisory.

 - A NULL pointer dereference in Busybox's hush applet leads to denial of service when processing a crafted shell command, due to missing validation after a \x03 delimiter character. This may be used for DoS under very rare conditions of filtered command input. (CVE-2021-42376)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
