Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for python-setuptools.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 9 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2023:0952 advisory.

- pypa-setuptools: Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) in package_index.py (CVE-2022-40897)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL python-setuptools package based on the guidance in RHSA-2023:0952.
