Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux AMI host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of libconfuse installed on the remote host is prior to 2.7-4.4. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS-2023-1692 advisory.

- cfg_tilde_expand in confuse.c in libConfuse 3.3 has a heap-based buffer over-read. (CVE-2022-40320)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update libconfuse' to update your system.
