Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 11 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dsa-5323 advisory.

- iTextPDF in iText 7 and up to 7.1.17 allows command injection via a CompareTool filename that is mishandled on the gs (aka Ghostscript) command line in GhostscriptHelper.java. (CVE-2021-43113)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the libitext5-java packages.

For the stable distribution (bullseye), this problem has been fixed in version 5.5.13.2-1+deb11u1.
