Trend Micro Mobile Security for Enterprise File Deletion (CVE-2022-40980)

critical Nessus Plugin ID 168915

Synopsis

A mobile security application is affected by a file deletion vulnerability.

Description

The Trend Micro Mobile Security for Enterprise running on the remote host is affected by a file deletion vulnerability. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit this, via a specially crafted message, to delete arbitrary files on the remote host.

Note that this plugin looks for a TCP SYN packet from the target to the scanner on port 445 after a detection probe is sent. If the packet cannot reach the scanner (i.e., due to network restrictions), Nessus would not able to detect the vulnerability.

Solution

Upgrade to version 9.8 SP5 Critical Patch 2 or later.
