medium Nessus Plugin ID 168798

Synopsis

The remote host has an application installed that is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Zoom Client for Meetings installed on the remote host is prior to 5.1.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ZSB-21015 advisory.

- In the Zoom Client for Meetings for Ubuntu Linux before version 5.1.0, there is an HTML injection flaw when sending a remote control request to a user in the process of in-meeting screen sharing. This could allow meeting participants to be targeted for social engineering attacks. Zoom addressed this issue in the 5.1.0 Zoom Client for Meetings for Ubuntu Linux release. Users can help keep themselves secure by applying current updates or downloading the latest Zoom software with all current security updates from https://zoom.us/download (CVE-2021-34419)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Zoom Client for Meetings 5.1.0 or later.
