Amazon Linux 2022 : systemd (ALAS2022-2022-219)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 168589

Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2022 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of systemd installed on the remote host is prior to 250.8-1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2022-2022-219 advisory.

- A flaw was found in systemd. An uncontrolled recursion in systemd-tmpfiles may lead to a denial of service at boot time when too many nested directories are created in /tmp. (CVE-2021-3997)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update systemd' to update your system.
