Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 10 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dla-3225 advisory.

- AWStats 7.x through 7.8 allows XSS in the hostinfo plugin due to printing a response from Net::XWhois without proper checks. (CVE-2022-46391)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the awstats packages.

For Debian 10 buster, this problem has been fixed in version 7.6+dfsg-2+deb10u2.
