Synopsis

A web browser installed on the remote Windows host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Google Chrome installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 107.0.5304.87/.88. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the 2022_10_stable-channel-update-for-desktop_27 advisory.

- Type confusion in V8 in Google Chrome prior to 107.0.5304.87 allowed a remote attacker to potentially exploit heap corruption via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High) (CVE-2022-3723)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Google Chrome version 107.0.5304.87 or later.
