F5 Networks BIG-IP : BIG-IP AFM NAT64 policy vulnerability (K00721320)

high Nessus Plugin ID 166241

Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

The version of F5 Networks BIG-IP installed on the remote host is prior to 15.1.5.1 / 16.1.3.2 / 17.0.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the K00721320 advisory.

- In versions 16.1.x before 16.1.3.2 and 15.1.x before 15.1.5.1, when BIG-IP AFM Network Address Translation policy with IPv6/IPv4 translation rules is configured on a virtual server, undisclosed requests can cause an increase in memory resource utilization. (CVE-2022-41806)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to one of the non-vulnerable versions listed in the F5 Solution K00721320.
