F5 Networks BIG-IP : BIG-IP DNS Express vulnerability (K70569537)

high Nessus Plugin ID 166239

Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

The version of F5 Networks BIG-IP installed on the remote host is prior to 13.1.5.1 / 14.1.5.1 / 15.1.6.1 / 16.1.3.1 / 17.0.0.1 / 17.1.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the K70569537 advisory.

- In BIG-IP versions 17.0.x before 17.0.0.1, 16.1.x before 16.1.3.1, 15.1.x before 15.1.6.1, 14.1.x before 14.1.5.1, and 13.1.x before 13.1.5.1, when DNS profile is configured on a virtual server with DNS Express enabled, undisclosed DNS queries with DNSSEC can cause TMM to terminate. (CVE-2022-41787)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to one of the non-vulnerable versions listed in the F5 Solution K70569537.
