F5 Networks BIG-IP : libxslt vulnerability (K30444545)

critical Nessus Plugin ID 165658

Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

The version of F5 Networks BIG-IP installed on the remote host is prior to 15.1.8 / 16.1.4 / 17.0.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the K30444545 advisory.

- libxslt through 1.1.33 allows bypass of a protection mechanism because callers of xsltCheckRead and xsltCheckWrite permit access even upon receiving a -1 error code. xsltCheckRead can return -1 for a crafted URL that is not actually invalid and is subsequently loaded. (CVE-2019-11068)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to one of the non-vulnerable versions listed in the F5 Solution K30444545.
