Synopsis

A web application running on the remote server is affected by a denial of service vulnerability.

Description

The version of Mattermost Server running on the remote host is 7.1.0. It is, therefore, affected by a denial of service (DoS) vulnerability. An authenticated, remote attacker can upload a specially crafted GIF file when creating a post which causes resource exhaustion on the host.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mattermost Server version 7.2.0 or later.
