Ubuntu 18.04 LTS / 20.04 LTS : SQLite vulnerabilities (USN-5615-1)

critical Nessus Plugin ID 165204

Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 18.04 LTS / 20.04 LTS host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the USN-5615-1 advisory.

- In SQlite 3.31.1, a potential null pointer derreference was found in the INTERSEC query processing.
(CVE-2020-35525)

- In SQLite 3.31.1, there is an out of bounds access problem through ALTER TABLE for views that have a nested FROM clause. (CVE-2020-35527)

- An issue was found in fts5UnicodeTokenize() in ext/fts5/fts5_tokenize.c in Sqlite. A unicode61 tokenizer configured to treat unicode control-characters (class Cc), was treating embedded nul characters as tokens. The issue was fixed in sqlite-3.34.0 and later. (CVE-2021-20223)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
