Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 16.04 ESM host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-5591-2 advisory.

- When setting font with malicous data by ioctl cmd PIO_FONT,kernel will write memory out of bounds.
(CVE-2021-33656)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected kernel package.
