IBM WebSphere Application Server Spoofing (6587947)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 162321

Synopsis

The remote web application server is vulnerable to spoofing.

Description

IBM WebSphere Application Server 7.0, 8.0, 8.5, and 9.0, with the Ajax Proxy Web Application (AjaxProxy.war) deployed, is vulnerable to spoofing by allowing a man-in-the-middle attacker to spoof SSL server hostnames.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update to IBM WebSphere Application Server version 8.5.5.22, 9.0.5.13 or later. Alternatively, upgrade to the minimal fix pack levels required by the interim fix and then apply Interim Fix PH44339.
