Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux AMI host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of aide installed on the remote host is prior to 0.14-7.9. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS-2022-1587 advisory.

 - AIDE before 0.17.4 allows local users to obtain root privileges via crafted file metadata (such as XFS extended attributes or tmpfs ACLs), because of a heap-based buffer overflow. (CVE-2021-45417)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update aide' to update your system.
