Synopsis

The remote host has an application installed that is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of Adobe InDesign installed on the remote host is prior to 16.4.2 and or 17.x prior to 17.2. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities, as follows:

- The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing embedded fonts. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted file, trick the victim into opening it using the affected software, trigger out-of-bounds write and execute arbitrary code on the target system. (CVE-2022-28831)

(CVE-2022-28832, CVE-2022-28833)

Note that Nessus has not attempted to exploit these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Adobe InDesign version 16.4.2, 17.2 or later.
