medium Nessus Plugin ID 160559

Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

The version of F5 Networks BIG-IP installed on the remote host is prior to 14.1.5.3 / 15.1.8 / 16.1.3.3 / 17.0.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the K52322100 advisory.

- On all versions of 16.1.x, 15.1.x, 14.1.x, 13.1.x, 12.1.x, and 11.6.x of F5 BIG-IP Advanced WAF, ASM, and ASM, and F5 BIG-IP Guided Configuration (GC) all versions prior to 9.0, when running in Appliance mode, an authenticated attacker with Administrator role privilege may be able to bypass Appliance mode restrictions due to a missing integrity check in F5 BIG-IP Guided Configuration. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated (CVE-2022-25946)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to one of the non-vulnerable versions listed in the F5 Solution K52322100.
