IBM Java 7.0 < 7.0.10.70 / 7.1 < 7.1.4.70 / 8.0 < 8.0.6.15

medium Nessus Plugin ID 160362

Synopsis

IBM Java is affected a vulnerability.

Description

The version of IBM Java installed on the remote host is prior to 7.0 < 7.0.10.70 / 7.1 < 7.1.4.70 / 8.0 < 8.0.6.15. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the IBM Security Update August 2020 advisory.

- In Eclipse OpenJ9 prior to version 0.21 on Power platforms, calling the System.arraycopy method with a length longer than the length of the source or destination array can, in certain specially crafted code patterns, cause the current method to return prematurely with an undefined return value. This allows whatever value happens to be in the return register at that time to be used as if it matches the method's declared return type. (CVE-2019-17639)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Apply the appropriate patch according to the IBM Security Update August 2020 advisory.
