Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 16.04 LTS / 18.04 LTS / 20.04 LTS / 21.10 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-5369-1 advisory.

- A flaw was found in python-oslo-utils. Due to improper parsing, passwords with a double quote ( ) in them cause incorrect masking in debug logs, causing any part of the password after the double quote to be plaintext. (CVE-2022-0718)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected python-oslo.utils and / or python3-oslo.utils packages.
