Synopsis

The remote CentOS host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote CentOS Linux 8 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the CESA-2022:0892 advisory.

 - libarchive: extracting a symlink with ACLs modifies ACLs of target (CVE-2021-23177)

 - libarchive: symbolic links incorrectly followed when changing modes, times, ACL and flags of a file while extracting an archive (CVE-2021-31566)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected bsdtar, libarchive and / or libarchive-devel packages.
