Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 11 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dsa-5064 advisory.

- Gajim 1.2.x and 1.3.x before 1.3.3 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via a crafted XMPP Last Message Correction (XEP-0308) message in multi-user chat, where the message ID equals the correction ID. (CVE-2021-41055)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the python-nbxmpp packages.

For the stable distribution (bullseye), this problem has been fixed in version 2.0.2-1+deb11u1.
