Debian DSA-5048-1 : libreswan - security update

high Nessus Plugin ID 156767

Language:

Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 11 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dsa-5048 advisory.

- Libreswan 4.2 through 4.5 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and daemon crash) via a crafted IKEv1 packet because pluto/ikev1.c wrongly expects that a state object exists. This is fixed in 4.6. (CVE-2022-23094)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the libreswan packages.

For the stable distribution (bullseye), this problem has been fixed in version 4.3-1+deb11u1.
