Synopsis

A client-server media player running on the remote host is affected by a privilege escalation vulnerability.

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the version of Plex Media Server installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 1.25.0.5282. It is, therefore, affected by a privilege escalation vulnerability. A local, authenticated user can exploit this to gain elevated privileges.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Plex Media Server version 1.25.0.5282 or later.
