Synopsis

The remote Oracle Linux host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Oracle Linux 8 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ELSA-2021-3499 advisory.

- Mozilla developers Tyson Smith and Gabriele Svelto reported memory safety bugs present in Firefox 91 and Firefox ESR 78.13. Some of these bugs showed evidence of memory corruption and we presume that with enough effort some of these could have been exploited to run arbitrary code. (CVE-2021-38493)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected thunderbird package.
