F5 Networks BIG-IP : Advanced WAF and BIG-IP ASM TMUI vulnerability (K52420610)

high Nessus Plugin ID 152826

Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

The version of F5 Networks BIG-IP installed on the remote host is prior to 16.0.1.2 / 16.1.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the K52420610 advisory.

- On version 16.0.x before 16.0.1.2, insufficient permission checks may allow authenticated users with guest privileges to perform Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) attacks through F5 Advanced Web Application Firewall (WAF) and the BIG-IP ASM Configuration utility. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated. (CVE-2021-23029)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to one of the non-vulnerable versions listed in the F5 Solution K52420610.
