Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

The version of F5 Networks BIG-IP installed on the remote host is prior to 14.1.4.3 / 15.1.3.1 / 16.1.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the K79428827 advisory.

 - On version 16.x before 16.1.0, 15.1.x before 15.1.3.1, 14.1.x before 14.1.4.3, and all versions of 13.1.x, 12.1.x and 11.6.x, when BIG-IP APM performs Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) verification of a certificate that contains Authority Information Access (AIA), undisclosed requests may cause an increase in memory use. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated. (CVE-2021-23047)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to one of the non-vulnerable versions listed in the F5 Solution K79428827.
