Oracle VM VirtualBox (July 2021 CPU)

high Nessus Plugin ID 151942

Synopsis

The remote host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities

Description

The version of Virtualbox installed on the remote host is prior to 6.1.24. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the July 2021 CPU advisory:

- Vulnerability in the Oracle VM VirtualBox product of Oracle Virtualization (component: Core). The supported version that is affected is Prior to 6.1.24. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows high privileged attacker with logon to the infrastructure where Oracle VM VirtualBox executes to compromise Oracle VM VirtualBox. While the vulnerability is in Oracle VM VirtualBox, attacks may significantly impact additional products. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in takeover of Oracle VM VirtualBox. (CVE-2021-2409)

Note : This vulnerability applies to Solaris x86 and Linux systems only. (CVE-2021-2443)

- Vulnerability in the Oracle VM VirtualBox product of Oracle Virtualization (component: Core). The supported version that is affected is Prior to 6.1.24. Difficult to exploit vulnerability allows low privileged attacker with logon to the infrastructure where Oracle VM VirtualBox executes to compromise Oracle VM VirtualBox. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in takeover of Oracle VM VirtualBox. (CVE-2021-2454)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
