Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of python-urllib3 installed on the remote host is prior to 1.25.9-1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2021-1688 advisory.

- An issue was discovered in urllib3 before 1.26.5. When provided with a URL containing many @ characters in the authority component, the authority regular expression exhibits catastrophic backtracking, causing a denial of service if a URL were passed as a parameter or redirected to via an HTTP redirect.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
