Synopsis
The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.Description
The version of libX11 installed on the remote host is prior to 1.6.7-3. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2021-1661 advisory.- An integer overflow leading to a heap-buffer overflow was found in The X Input Method (XIM) client was implemented in libX11 before version 1.6.10. As per upstream this is security relevant when setuid programs call XIM client functions while running with elevated privileges. No such programs are shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux. (CVE-2020-14344)
Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
