Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of slapi-nis installed on the remote host is prior to 0.56.5-4. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2021-1646 advisory.

- A flaw was found in slapi-nis in versions before 0.56.7. A NULL pointer dereference during the parsing of the Binding DN could allow an unauthenticated attacker to crash the 389-ds-base directory server. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to system availability. (CVE-2021-3480)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update slapi-nis' to update your system.
