Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of python-urllib3 installed on the remote host is prior to 1.25.9-1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2021-1668 advisory.

- urllib3 before 1.25.9 allows CRLF injection if the attacker controls the HTTP request method, as demonstrated by inserting CR and LF control characters in the first argument of putrequest(). NOTE: this is similar to CVE-2020-26116. (CVE-2020-26137)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update python-urllib3' to update your system.
