high Nessus Plugin ID 150362
New! Plugin Severity Now Using CVSS v3

The calculated severity for Plugins has been updated to use CVSS v3 by default. Plugins that do not have a CVSS v3 score will fall back to CVSS v2 for calculating severity. Severity display preferences can be toggled in the settings dropdown.

Synopsis

The remote host has an application installed that is missing a security update.

Description

The Microsoft Visual Studio Code Kubernetes Tools Extension is prior to version 1.3.3. It is, therefore, affected by an elevation of privilege vulnerability. By persuading a victim to open specially-crafted content, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code on the system with privileges of the system.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the Microsoft Visual Studio Code Kubernetes Tools Extension to version 1.3.3 or later.
