Juniper Junos OS DoS (JSA11125)

high Nessus Plugin ID 149810

Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

The version of Junos OS installed on the remote host is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the JSA11125 advisory. On Juniper Networks Junos OS platforms with link aggregation (lag) configured, executing any operation that fetches Aggregated Ethernet (AE) interface statistics, including but not limited to SNMP GET requests, causes a slow kernel memory leak. If all the available memory is consumed, the traffic will be impacted and a reboot might be required.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Apply the relevant Junos software release referenced in Juniper advisory JSA11125
