Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 20.04 LTS / 20.10 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-4563-2 advisory.

- NTP through 4.2.8p12 has a NULL Pointer Dereference. (CVE-2019-8936)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected ntp, ntpdate and / or sntp packages.
