Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch

Description

According to its self-reported version, ClamAV for Windows is affected by a vulnerability in the dynamic link library (DLL) loading mechanism due to insufficient validation of directory search paths at run time. An authenticated, local attacker can exploit this, by placing a malicious DLL file on an affected system, in order to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to the relevant fixed version referenced in Cisco bug ID CSCvw77090
