Joomla 3.0.x < 3.9.26 Multiple Vulnerabilities (5835-joomla-3-9-26)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 148641

Synopsis

A PHP application running on the remote web server is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

According to its self-reported version, the instance of Joomla! running on the remote web server is 3.0.x prior to 3.9.26. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities:

- A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in the logo parameter of the default templates page due to improper validation of user-supplied input before returning it to users. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this, by convincing a user to click a specially crafted URL, to execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser session (CVE-2021-26030).

- A local file inclusion vulnerability exists on the module layout settings component. An unauthenticated, remote attacker may be able to leverage this issue to view arbitrary files or to execute arbitrary PHP code on the remote host (CVE-2021-26031).

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Joomla! version 3.9.26 or later.
