Google Chrome < 89.0.4389.72 Multiple Vulnerabilities

high Nessus Plugin ID 146948

Synopsis

A web browser installed on the remote Windows host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of Google Chrome installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 89.0.4389.72. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the 2021_03_stable-channel-update-for-desktop advisory.

- Uninitialized data in PDFium in Google Chrome prior to 89.0.4389.72 allowed a remote attacker to obtain potentially sensitive information from process memory via a crafted PDF file. (CVE-2021-21190)

- A flaw was found in openjpeg's src/lib/openjp2/t2.c in versions prior to 2.4.0. This flaw allows an attacker to provide crafted input to openjpeg during conversion and encoding, causing an out-of-bounds write. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to confidentiality, integrity, as well as system availability. (CVE-2020-27844)

- Heap buffer overflow in TabStrip in Google Chrome prior to 89.0.4389.72 allowed a remote attacker to potentially exploit heap corruption via a crafted HTML page. (CVE-2021-21159, CVE-2021-21161)

- Heap buffer overflow in WebAudio in Google Chrome prior to 89.0.4389.72 allowed a remote attacker to potentially exploit heap corruption via a crafted HTML page. (CVE-2021-21160)

- Use after free in WebRTC in Google Chrome prior to 89.0.4389.72 allowed a remote attacker to potentially exploit heap corruption via a crafted HTML page. (CVE-2021-21162)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Google Chrome version 89.0.4389.72 or later.
